Last verified: August 20, 2026 — Game version: Starsand Island 1.0 (launched August 18, 2026). Facts come from official Steam news, the community wiki, and dated player reports.

Starsand Island left Early Access on August 18, 2026 at 5:00 AM PDT. Official countdown news framed 1.0 around three pillars: hosted multiplayer, upgraded romance, and a same-day console launch. This page is the short changelog, not a rewrite of every Early Access system.

What Did Not Change

Your island is still yours. Guests visit; they do not merge farms. Quests that belong to an island may force a guest to go home. Cross-platform play is explicitly unsupported. The five professions, Buy Land ladder, Moonlit Forest, and king-fish hunts all remain.

Returning From Early Access

Official messaging said existing 3-heart relationships can open the new stories. That is the strongest argument for keeping an old save. If your file is two months stale, or you never touched Island Life ranks, a fresh island is cleaner. Full advice lives on new save or old save.

What Players Hit on Day One

Steam discussions and Reddit already list: Multiplayer app missing, join mode resetting to Anyone Can Join, Golden Cudgel doing nothing, Houseboat unlock stuck, Neona move-in bugs, and Switch 2 black screens. None of those are in the cheerful launch blog. See common 1.0 bugs.

From Community Gameplay

Sarah’s stream treated 1.0 as a social toy — join codes, extra beds, shared storage, a phone shop that sells novelty blueprints. Pat’s Switch 2 stream never got that far. Treat console 1.0 as a different product until a stability patch lands.

What We Are Still Waiting On

The official website has a JavaScript unlock guide we could not extract. The Multiplayer Shop catalog is only known from streams. Blue Beach’s Starsand cost is listed as “xx” on the community wiki. Marriage / live-in rules after 1.0 are not fully documented. We will update when those numbers are confirmed.
