Starsand Island Multiplayer Guide for Version 1.0

How Starsand Island 1.0 multiplayer works: unlock steps, host modes, passwords, permissions, coins, no crossplay, and why island progress is not shared.

8/20/2026 Last updated: 8/20/2026

Last verified: August 20, 2026 — Game version: Starsand Island 1.0 (launched August 18, 2026). Facts come from official Steam news, the community wiki, and dated player reports.

Starsand Island 1.0 multiplayer is a host-island visit, not a shared Stardew farm. One player hosts. Up to three friends join. Progress is not shared. The feature is locked until you finish a specific Island Life questline.

How to Unlock Multiplayer (1.0)

Player reports dated August 18–19, 2026, plus the Island Life wiki, agree on this tunnel. It is not available on a brand-new file.

StepWhat to do
1Push Island Life on the phone
2Reach Junior Talent and complete 5 Community Center bulletin requests
3Unlock the Buy Land app
4Buy or expand your land once and enter the Island Pro stage
5Start the Smooth Sailing questline
6Help Marston rebuild the Maritime Bureau
7Finish / turn in Smooth Sailing
8The Multiplayer app appears on the phone
9Open it, pick a region/server, host or join

A post on August 19 said you must finish Smooth Sailing before co-op appears. Launch-day suggestion threads already complained that rebuilding the Maritime Bureau is the gate. If the app is missing, you are still in this tunnel — do not reinstall first.

Multiplayer Coins and Shop

Together you earn Multiplayer Coins and spend them in the Multiplayer Shop. Confirmed categories: furniture, decorations, and other co-op-only items. A full name + price table is not yet confirmed — see Multiplayer Shop.
