Starsand Island 1.0 Review: Worth Buying Now?

Is Starsand Island 1.0 worth it? Steam is Very Positive overall, but 1.0 rebound is weak and Switch 2 launch footage is rough. What to buy and what to wait.

Last verified: August 20, 2026 — Game version: Starsand Island 1.0 (launched August 18, 2026). Facts come from official Steam news, the community wiki, and dated player reports.

Starsand Island 1.0 is a long-tail cozy farm sim that just grew a host-visit multiplayer mode. It is worth buying on PC if you like profession ladders and NPC schedules. It is a wait-and-see on Switch 2. It is not a new Stardew, and the 1.0 player spike was much smaller than the February Early Access peak.

What 1.0 Actually Added

Hosted 4-player visits, resource permissions, Multiplayer Coins, Relationship Stories from 3 hearts, picnic / arcade / kite dates, an autumn festival, and same-day console ports. Official news is clear that island progress is not shared.

The Caution

SteamDB-style charts in our research window showed a February peak near 12,000 and a 1.0 peak closer to 2,200. That is a weak re-engagement signal. Reviews sit mixed-to-positive. The game also carried Early Access drama (suspicious reviews, a short store takedown). None of that deletes the systems, but it is why we are not writing “must buy.”

Verdict

Buy on PC if you already bounced off the EA and want the new social layer. Keep your old save if it has hearts and land. Wait on Switch 2. Read what’s new and bugs before you refund-clock yourself.
